Doctoral Research Project
I am passionate about developmental psychology, behavioral biology and social neuroscience. More specifically, my research interests are centered around the behavioral, cognitive and emotional correlates of aggression and prosocial behaviors. A particular interest concerns the concept of social intelligence. Social intelligence is positively associated with the frequent manifestation not only of prosocial behavior but also of indirect aggression and bullying against others. The duplicity of these associations highlights the need for a better understanding of social intelligence in order to develop effective bullying prevention strategies. However, the psychometric evaluation of the available social intelligence scales for children represents a significant obstacle to the advancement of research. Indeed, measures of social intelligence have so far only been validated with adults. The objective of my doctoral thesis is the psychometric validation of a newly developed social intelligence scale for elementary school-aged children and to assess the psychometric invariance of the instrument over time and across gender.
